Two men, a father and his son, were involved in a tragic accident out on Highway 50, in Illinois. They were traveling in the westbound lanes of the highway, which had to be shut down extensively after the two-car crash. Both of the men in the car ended up passing away from their injuries.
The father, who was 52 years old, was the one behind the wheel, and his son, who was just 29 years old, was in the passenger seat. Their car was hit by a pickup truck. The man who was driving that truck, who is 36 years old, survived the accident, though he is said to have serious injuries. He was brought to Froedtert Hospital, which is located in Wawautosa, to get treatment.
That driver is also going to face charges in the case, according to reports. The three main charges are for homicide since he was allegedly using the truck while intoxicated, for drunk driving and for driving in the wrong direction while using a divided highway.
The DUI crash happened right around six in the evening, and it was close to Highway 83. The son died while still at the crash site. The father was taken from the car and brought to Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington, but he later passed away.
